Really great way to make complex magazine stlye layout websites

I've been making websites for many years but being based in print design rather than web design I used to struggle with complex HTML and CSS layouts. I always used to get frustrated so flash was my program of choice for making websites. I always found flash easier for me because layouts would be produced in a similar way to illustrator.

Now HTML and CSS is by far my preferred choice for web design. I found flash caused so many problems. There is difficulty with search engine results, load times and user readability due to problems with plug in, internet explorer and new devices such as the iPad and iPhone.

After making a few websites using HTML and CSS I was still a little unsure of which method i preferred until I found the CSS frame work 960 grid system

I found this framework so useful for creating website with the exact layout that i was after. I was very skeptical of using a frame work to begin with because i thought it would be like using a template and using other peoples design but that is not the case. If anything using the frame work has allowed me to make my websites the layouts and styling that I envisaged.

The Frame work uses a 12 or 16 column grid which you can apply your divs over and produce very complex layouts with ease and all to web standards with no problem over different browser

If you are interested there is a great video tutorial of how to get started using 960.gs at net.tutsplus.com
